Repeated miscarriages
If the embryo fails to develop in the uterus after successful implantation, this is called a miscarriage. The term miscarriage is used for pregnancies up to 20 weeks. Most miscarriages occur in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. We can use many different definitions to describe the stage of fetal loss.
Types of repeated miscarriages
Biochemical pregnancy
It means that the woman has a positive pregnancy test, but the development of the fetus has stopped at a very early stage. Thus, the pregnancy will never progress to the point where it can be detected by ultrasound. Usually, the levels of beta-chorionic gonadotropin decrease spontaneously and no further medical measures are required. It is important that the doctor is informed, because a biochemical pregnancy is usually a pregnancy of unknown location and therefore can sometimes be an ectopic pregnancy.
An-embryonic pregnancy
This term refers to pregnancies that reach the stage where the amniotic sac has no contents. An-embryonic pregnancy sometimes requires medical or surgical intervention to empty the uterus.
Palindromes pregnancy
Sometimes the pregnancy does not progress, although the fetal elements are visible on ultrasound, this event may occur in Occur at different stages of fetal development. This means that an embryo stops developing even though fetal heart function was present on a previous ultrasound image. This condition is known as palindromic pregnancy.
Complete miscarriage
Based on clinical manifestations, we define a complete miscarriage as the spontaneous expulsion of all fertilization products. If only part of the products of conception are expelled naturally, we speak of an incomplete miscarriage. An unavoidable miscarriage occurs when the cervix spontaneously dilates, but the fertilization products are still in the uterine cavity.
The septic miscarriage
Finally, a septic miscarriage is said to occur when infectious fertilization products are present in the uterine cavity. This is a dangerous condition as it can lead to generalized septicemia.
