Egg Donation
There are a number of reasons why some women rely exclusively on egg donation.
It may be premature onset of menopause, earlier surgical removal of ovaries, or poor quality of own eggs. Unfortunately, with increasing age, not only the number of eggs but also their quality decreases. Also, the chance of successful fertilization becomes less and less.
After the age of 40, the success rate of getting a healthy egg within one cycle is even only 5%. Whatever the reason for your treatment, we will do everything to ensure that you end up with a healthy baby in your arms.
The solution is egg donation!
Many women have problems getting pregnant with their own eggs. That is why egg donation is a successful and often used treatment in very many fertility clinics.
The carefully selected and suitable donors must meet strict criteria. Only a fraction of interested women can meet them. Donors undergo gynecological and ultrasound examinations, hormone profiling, genetic testing (karyotype, CFTR, SMA, FRAXA, GJB2, or the full PANDA genetics panel), and an interview with a clinical geneticist. Repeat testing for sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis) will be performed.
All egg donors in REPROMEDA meet the following requirements:
- Age 18 to 33
- At least secondary school-leaving certificate
- Good health
- BMI in normal range
- Non-smoker
- Regular menstruation
- Without hereditary and psychiatric diseases
- No sexually transmitted diseases
- No drug addiction in the medical history
- No infertility in the medical history
Will the baby look like us, even if it is not from my eggs?
To ensure that the baby conceived from the donated egg is not completely different from the rest of your family, we select a suitable donor based on your preferences and physical characteristics. We strive to find a maximum match in appearance based on hair color, eye color, and height. We also place importance on character traits and interests. As a rule, you need the same blood group and rhesus factor.
How does the whole procedure work?
Once a suitable egg donor is selected, hormonal stimulation of the donor is initiated. The retrieved eggs are fertilized with the thawed sperm of the recipient’s partner (or from a sperm donation) and the resulting embryos are further cultured. The best embryo at the blastocyst stage is then transferred to the recipient. The remaining embryos of perfect quality are vitrified and stored for later use.
Treatment by egg donation is suitable for couples where the women suffer from the following problems:
- Missing ovaries
- Premature failure of ovarian function, B. for unknown reasons, after chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
- Oocyte factor. In previous IVF cycles, a petite number of oocytes were repeatedly obtained, or their quality was poor. Thus, the use of own oocytes repeatedly resulted in failed fertilization, furrowing or failed implantation.
- Severe forms of ovarian endometriosis.
- Genetic disorders that cannot be treated by preimplantation testing.
